Heading to Anime Expo 2012? Be sure to check out Hyberbooster Studios and get your hands on an original Copic commission by Bordin Markinsul in booth C17, C18. For more of his work, check out these galleries of his commissions on Facebook.
We asked Bordin a few questions, and he was kind enough to share these answers:
How long have been drawing?
I have been drawing since I was 5 years old, and went on seriously after I finished college at the Academy of Art, San Francisco. It’s been five years since I graduated, since I started working professionally.
How long have you been using Copic markers?
I’ve been using Copic markers for about 10 years, ever since college.
What do you like about them – as compared to other brands?
Their brush tip is the softest brands and best out there in the market. I love how I can blend colors together and how I have so many selections of colors to work with.
When was your first Anime Expo?
I’ve been attending AX for the past four years and this year is my fifth.
What’s your official booth number, what are you selling?
My booth is located at C7 and C8 in the Artist Alley.
What do you like most about anime?
I love the variety of character design and story. I love manga anime such One Piece, Naruto, Vagabond, Dragon Ball Z, Saint Saiya, I can name so many that I love.
What inspires your art?
I would have to say I’m influenced by an artist name Inoue Takehiko, the artist of Vagabond and Slam Dunk.
Have any marker tips to share?
Get to know every single markers color that you own. Get familiar with them. Try blending each and every possible combination you can with your markers set.
Any convention selling pro tips?
Keep challenging your self, be different, and compete with yourself. Don’t be too shy to talk to people who show interest in your work.
